Pastor and professor Jin S. Kim talks with us about the vital but difficult work of decolonizing Christian leadership and theological education, a prophetic task he embodies through his work with Church of All Nations and Underground Seminary in Minneapolis.
Dr. Kim is the founding Pastor of Church of All Nations and chief cultural architect of Underground Seminary, which provides theological education, pastoral training, and discipleship in the way of Jesus. Their courses expose the logic of empire and its devastating effects on people and the earth, study the Bible as a counter-imperial witness, and seek to heal the trauma inflicted by empire. With liberated spirits, students are equipped to follow Jesus in his prophetic, healing, and kinship-creating ministry.
Dr. Kim grew up in the deep South after emigrating from Korea with his family at age 7. He went to Georgia Tech, Princeton Seminary, has a DMin from Columbia Seminary, and has served as a congregational pastor since 1993. His household includes his wife and two grown children and his parents.
