We talk with Idelette McVicker about her journey out of whiteness and reckoning with her Apartheid past as an Afrikaner woman. In her book Recovering Racists: Dismantling White Supremacy and Reclaiming Our Humanity she shares 20 practices or “Stations of Liberation” that can help white people recover from the racism we have inherited, from acknowledgment and facing the ugly truth, to becoming part of repair and restitution. It’s a journey of inner transformation, liberation, and essentially, Love.
Idelette is an Afrikaner woman, born and raised in South Africa during the Apartheid years. She is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of SheLovesmagazine.com. She’s a writer, immigrant, mother of three, and a restaurant wife. She loves Jesus, justice, and living juicy. Connect with her on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or her blog.
