We talked with Curt Thompson about his new book The Soul of Desire: Discovering the Neuroscience of Longing, Beauty, and Community, which suggests that underneath all our longings is the desire to be seen and known. Curt integrates interpersonal neurobiology, Christian spirituality, and theology to help us reckon with what it means to be human, and why naming our desires in community is so important for flourishing.
Curt Thompson is a board-certified psychiatrist and the founder of Being Known, an organization that develops resources for hope and healing at the intersection of neuroscience and Christian spiritual formation. He is the author of The Soul of Shame and Anatomy of the Soul, and the book we are talking about today, The Soul of Desire: Discovering the Neuroscience of Longing, Beauty, and Community. You can hear more from Curt Thompson on the Being Known Podcast or read and watch more from Curt on his website, or on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.
